About me

Al Shelley was born to Mel and Jane Shelley in Painesville, Ohio, on April 7, 1957.  Along with his older brothers Dennis and Ed, they lived in Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois.  This Midwest kid went to California in 1975, serving in the U.S. Marines in the 7th Marine Division aboard the USS Tarawa.  

Al is the owner of the Royal Inns, Care Facilities for the Elderly in Lake Forest, California, founded in 1989.  He loves writing, adventure, travel, and playing tournament softball with his teammates on So Cal 55 in the major division.   Al has five children, Sarah, Madison, Hannah, and twins Luke and Garrett, with wife Nanci, who tragically passed away in 2016.  He currently lives in Riverside, California, with his dogs Miles and Draco and four children ( who won’t leave).
